C.A.A and Their Contribution to Anesthesia Research

Established in 1973, Capitol Anesthesiology Association (https://twitter.com/Capanesth) is a Texas based independent practice, specializing in anesthesiology. It is the largest in the nation. Anesthesia is an effective means of alleviating pain and anxiety before and after surgeries. There are three general classifications of anesthesia, namely general anesthesia, regional anesthesia, and local/Monitored Anesthesia Care. General anesthesia is used for patients who have to be still and unconscious during surgery. Regional Anesthesia is used in alleviating the sensation of pain during and after operations. And Local/MAC is given to patients for procedures involving operations on small areas of soft tissue. The physicians at CAA are also trained in administering anesthesia in other areas like obstetric, cardiothoracic, and pediatric anesthesiology.

There are over 80 medical doctors and 130 Registered Nurse Anesthetics that a part of Capital Anesthesiology Association. Their physicians are either certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, or actively pursuing attainment of certification. CAA provides anesthesia services at Level 1 Trauma Centers in Austin, among other centers. They are also a member of the Anesthesia Quality Institute.
